“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
CROSSroads, our character and spiritual development program, provides students with daily opportunities to learn how to navigate life’s winding path. In the same way that explorers use a compass to find their way, our students are learning to rely on God’s word, using it to navigate challenging situations and to make responsible and caring choices each and every day. Through daily encounters with God’s word, students come to discover that we are all God’s children. We all deserve love and respect and we are all called to treat others with that same love and respect.
Each month, the entire school community comes together to focus on one of the traits that make up our CROSSroads Compass. Monday Flag Meetings, Class Meetings, Chapel Chats, and Kingdom Theatre classes offer students regular opportunities to learn valuable lessons that remind them of God’s love and His deep desire to help them to grow into the very best version of themselves.
For each student, our program culminates at their 6th grade Graduation ceremony, when they are gifted with an embossed Compass Journal and an engraved Compass, cherished mementos of the guidance they received during their formative years at SJEDS. We hope the lessons learned here will continue to inform their decision-making as they enter the wider world, ready to serve and love others.
